Compact, customised, uncomplicated

With B-SMART, Burckhardt of Switzerland AG in Basel has developed a new cold perforating unit that is based on the know-how of the top models, but at the same time impresses with an extremely attractive entry-level price.

The experts at Burckhardt are pleased to be able to further expand and round off their portfolio now after a longer development period. For this purpose, B-SMART has been intensively tested and is now ready for customers and their projects. B-SMART has been specially developed for towed cold application and is available in three standard working widths: 850mm, 1300mm and 1650mm. Of course, the working width as well as other parameters can be individually adapted to the specific needs of the customer.

Numerous applications are covered
The application range of the machine reaches a needle density of up to 25 needles/cm2, which covers a wide range of applications – such as perforation of paper, cardboard, kraft paper, all kinds of plastic films, thin aluminium foils, laminated nonwovens, and many more
Thanks to its small dimensions of 1450 / 1905 / 2255mm width, 406mm length and 514mm height, the compact machine can easily be integrated into existing lines as a towed unit.

The simple but sophisticated infeed system for the piercing depth is visualised in analogue form and can be operated autonomously on both sides of the machine. The unit has only an integrated pneumatic system and no control or other electrical components. This makes it easy to install and commission. Optionally, the pneumatics can be upgraded with an electric solenoid valve. This allows control through an existing control panel.

Simple application is in the foreground
Thanks to the slim design, the rollers can be changed by simply loosening two screws. Thanks to an ingenious sliding system, the perforating roller can then be removed by a single operator.
Optionally, the machine can be equipped with the newly developed POM plastic perforating rings. As these have a much lower weight – less than about a quarter of a comparable tool made of metal – good running properties and excellent perforating results are achieved.
“We are happy to advise customers with regard to their individual requirements and mthen provide them with a customised offer,”
CEO Teddy Burckhardt told C2.
